Golf Season Open

29th June, 2011 by Gillian Murtagh

Bank Holiday Monday 6th July saw the beginning of the Summer Season of Charity Golf Classics in Shay Murtagh Precast.

Each year we are approached by local groups for the use of the Golf Course for fundraising.  Groups include sports clubs, schools parents councils and charities. On Monday it was a charity event for Killucan Area Society of St Vincent de Paul.  This is one of the largest voluntary charity associations in Ireland with its main aim to tackle poverty through practical assistance.  With the local branch only in its first year we took no hesitation to giving them our full support with the use of the Golf Course and sponsorship of the prizes.

With over 40 teams playing a 3 ball scramble, the sun shining and an all day barbeque for the players the Charity raised €3,900.00 for the day.  We wish them continued success in fundraising and look forward to their now annual golf classic.
