In November 2011 Shay Murtagh Precast manufactured and delivered 10 UAN culvert assemblies on behalf of RJ McLeod contractors for Inchyra Road. Each assembly consisted of an upper and lower U-section to form a 5.7m by 2.4m culvert. Each U-section weighed 13.5T and was 1.941m long. All culvert units had a section thickness of 300mm. Pre-stressed Concrete box beams for Haxton Bridge, Wiltshire

Ringway Construction appointed Shay Murtagh Precast their manufacturer for the Haxton Bridge Project. We manufactured the precast elements which assembled consisted of nine internal solid pre-stressed box beams and two outer pre-stressed edge beams which were 15.4m long. The internal beams were 495mm wide by 700mm deep and weighed 11.4T. (more…)

The Next Edition
The Shay Murtagh Technical Manual for Pre-stressed Concrete Bridge Beams was released in January of 2011 and has been very well received within the industry. The manual has proven to be a valuable tool for UK and Irish bridge engineers in the preliminary design of bridges and other structures carrying Eurocode compatible vehicular loading. Shay Murtagh Precast is now in the process of developing Edition 2 of the manual where several enhancements will be made to the Technical Manual, taking on board many of the recommendations presented by users of the manual.
Septic Tank – Assessed and Certified

With the new proposed EU and Government legislation in relation to septic tanks due to come into force over the coming months Shay Murtagh Precast have undergone rigorous testing of our septic tank unit. The units were tested and certified to the new standard EN12566 Part 1.
Kilmallock OB292m – Overbridge

Shay Murtagh Precast are long standing precast concrete suppliers to Irish Rail. In June 2011 we supplied three portal frame assemblies for a new overbridge at Kilmallock, Co Limerick to the main contractor PJ Hegarty and Sons. Each portal assembly consisted of an inverted U-shaped portal bridge unit which was supported on two base leg units.
Spectator Stand for Coralstown/Kinnegad GAA

FP McCann – Irish salt mines

Shay Murtagh Precast recently manufactured and supplied U-channel and cover slab units to Irish Salt Mines Project to main contractors FP McCann Ltd.. The U-section and cover slab formed a reclaim tunnel at the Irish Salt Mines Kilroot facility in Carrickfergus. The units supplied to date complete Phase 01 of the works with over 75 linear metres delivered to site. (more…)
