Shay Murtagh Precast recently manufactured prestressed bridge beams for an overbridge for the N4 Downs grade separation scheme. The client was the NRA and Westmeath County council and the contractor was SIAC Construction.

Shay Murtagh Precast’s project for Hochtief Murphy on the Crossrail C310 Thames Tunnel has been moving swiftly and another significant milestone was celebrated. Sophia – the first of two Tunnel Boring Machines – made its first breakthrough at the Woolwich Box Station on 15th May.

Shay Murtagh Precast, in conjunction with Balfour Beatty manufactured and delivered precast bridge beams for three bridge decks on this project. This included: fourteen 17.1m long Y1 beams eighteen 14.9m long TY7 beams sixteen 12.7m long TY5 beam All bridge beam units were 2m long and ranged in size from 1.5m x 1.5m with 200mm thick

Shay Murtagh Precast completed this project last year for Bam Nuttall. The client was Network Rail. Bridge beams were supplied for a bridge replacement project for which we needed to manufacture a single deck that was then transported along the beach and placed into position. The deck weighed over 30 tonnes.

The New Tyne Crossing a new tunnel for vehicles is one of the largest infrastructure projects in construction in Great Britain. TT2 was appointed Concessionaire to design, build, part finance and operate a second vehicle tunnel under the Rive Tyne and operate all other tunnels until 2037.

The old bridge structure which carried Andover Road over the railway line needed rebuilding to enable larger freight containers to be carried on the Railway. Upgrade works were carried out as part of the Southampton to Nuneaton freight upgrade scheme. Improvement works are being planned along this route to structures which are not currently large
