Corporate Social Responsibility
Shay Murtagh Precast for decades has been involved with sport whether by small advertising, sponsorship of jerseys or monetary, as a Company we recognise the building blocks sport brings to individuals and communities. Teamwork, leadership, training, and commitment are all qualities brought through sport to young people alongside the growth and development of the wider community.
We recognise all sport, rugby, hurling, soccer and gaelic football are some of the more notable contributions.
Sponsors of Westmeath GAA Club Senior Football Championship
In 2007 Ber Murtagh a director of Shay Murtagh Precast died suddenly at the age of 56. A huge personality and had a love of gaelic games, he is sadly missed. A former referee and local club chairman we believed it fitting to take over as the main sponsor of the Westmeath Senior Football Championship. Since 2007 we have been main sponsors and each year a trophy is given to the best player on the pitch that day adjudicated by an independent group – The Ber Murtagh Man of the Match Award.
Sponsors of the Westmeath Camogie team
In 2016 Shay Murtagh Precast became sponsors of the Westmeath Camogie team. The Company believes that equality in sport must begin with equality in sponsorship. As such the Company has undertaken a four-year commitment to ensure that the young women of the area, as well as young men, are given the same opportunities, support and encouragement in all aspects of their lives, including sports.
Sponsors of Mullingar Rugby – Shay Murtagh Park
In 2014 the Company entered into a ten year sponsorship agreement with Mullingar Rugby Club, allowing the club to develop a new 4G pitch which is suitable for year round play. Shay Murtagh Park was officially opened by Joe Schmidt, head coach of the Irish rugby team in June 2015. The Company believes that creating and developing these resources on a local level provides an excellent foundation for the youth of the area on which to build social skills and a healthy lifestyle in a safe and fun environment.
