Update – 13,600 Tunnel Segments for C310 Thames Tunnel

Shay Murtagh Precast's project for Hochtief Murphy on the Crossrail C310 Thames Tunnel has been moving swiftly and another significant milestone was celebrated.

Sophia – the first of two Tunnel Boring Machines – made its first breakthrough at the Woolwich Box Station on 15th May.

The second TBM named ‘Mary’ commenced it drive on 19th May at the Plumstead Portal and from here both TBM’s will begin their final drives to the North Woolwich Portal.

13,600 Concrete Tunnel Segments

On June 13th another significant milestone was marked when we reached production of 13,600 concrete tunnel segments (over 17,170m3 of concrete), which is the halfway point in our scheduled production. At current production rates we are on target to complete production in the first half of the New Year, which puts us well ahead of the original project programme.
