Shay Murtagh Precast were contracted to design, manufacture and deliver precast concrete bridge beams. The beams supplied for Newmains Underbridge on the Forth Replacement Crossing - M9 Junction 1A Project in Scotland.
The client was Transport Scotland and the contractor was SRB Civil Engineering Ltd.
Concrete Bridge Beam Specifications
The new bridge was a single span deck comprising of prestressed TY7 bridge beams with an infill insitu concrete deck. Constructed alongside an existing bridge deck.
The new deck had an overall width of 28.4m and a clear span of 14.2m. Thirty three number TY7 interior bridge beams required and these were 15.42m long and weighed 11t.Two TYE7 edge beams were also manufactured and these weighed 17.5t. The edge beams were cast with an inclined external face as requested by the client.
