Bridge Beams for Thorntons Overbridge

Shay Murtagh Precast were contracted to manufacture precast elements and bridge beams for Thorntons Overbridge on the Doncaster to Water Orton rail line. The client was Network Rail with us contracted by Main Contractor Carillion.

Bridge Beams Delivery Begins for Reading Viaduct

In the last number of weeks Shay Murtagh Precast have begun shipping to the Reading Viaduct Redevelopment. We have been awarded the prestigious contract by Balfour Beatty Major Civils to manufacture and deliver concrete bridge beams and precast concrete culverts to this significant rail project estimated at £895m.

Concrete Storage Tanks for Irish Distillers Ltd.

Shay Murtagh in conjunction with Writech Industrial Services were awarded the contract by Irish Distillers Ltd world renowned producers of Jameson whiskey brand, to construct three very large firewater storage reservoirs at their manufacturing facility in Cork in south of Ireland.

Concrete Bridge Beams for Whitemill Bridge

Shay Murtagh Precast has manufactured pre-stressed concrete bridge beams for a new road bridge on the B851 as part of the enabling works for the Dunmaglass Wind Farm project near Inverness, Scotland on behalf of RJ McLeod.

Bridge Beams for Somerstown Hub

This project consisted of the construction of a new community hub in Portsmouth and was part of the regeneration of the Somerstown area. This new development spans the four lane Winston Churchill Avenue dual carriageway. Shay Murtagh Precast were awarded the precast project by Main Contractor BAM Construction for the client Porthsmouth City Council.

Carillion – Coventry Road, Birmingham

Birmingham City over the August Bank Holiday weekend Shay Murtagh Precast delivered into Main Contractors Carillion Plc. Carillion Plc carried out a complete reconstruction of St. Andrews Bridge, Coventry Road. The existing bridge a Victorian bridge under the junction of Coventry Road and Arthur Street was demolished and replaced with a modern concrete and steel

Bridge Beams for the N4 Downs Scheme

Shay Murtagh Precast recently manufactured prestressed bridge beams for an overbridge for the N4 Downs grade separation scheme. The client was the NRA and Westmeath County council and the contractor was SIAC Construction.

Thames Tunnel

Update – 13,600 Tunnel Segments for C310 Thames Tunnel

Shay Murtagh Precast’s project for Hochtief Murphy on the Crossrail C310 Thames Tunnel has been moving swiftly and another significant milestone was celebrated. Sophia – the first of two Tunnel Boring Machines – made its first breakthrough at the Woolwich Box Station on 15th May.

Bridge Beams for Porthmadog By-pass

Shay Murtagh Precast, in conjunction with Balfour Beatty manufactured and delivered precast bridge beams for three bridge decks on this project. This included: fourteen 17.1m long Y1 beams eighteen 14.9m long TY7 beams sixteen 12.7m long TY5 beam All bridge beam units were 2m long and ranged in size from 1.5m x 1.5m with 200mm thick
